I’ve been thinking for awhile about expanding my photography to include studio lighting. I still love natural light, the challenge of using available light, and the beauty of an outdoor portrait, but learning studio lighting is important to me. I want to be as well-rounded a photographer as possible, and for me, that means including studio lights.
So, I’m in the process of getting a studio set up, which is both overhwelming and exciting. There is so much to learn, so many different techniques and styles! I’m lucky enough to have a room in our basement that wasn’t being used for anything. My husband lovingly painted it for me (he hates painting) and now we just have to put on the finishing touches (outlet covers, shelves, pictures hung, etc.)
I just got my lights this week, and have been working on learning how to use them. As soon as I feel confident in my lighting skills, I will be offering special prices as I build my studio portfolio. I’ve been playing with them/forcing my poor children to model for me, and I’m really excited to continue to improve and learn new techniques.
Here are a few of my practice shots. 🙂
I love how they have the same expression.
And my favorite one so far. My adorable nephew.
