Time for our monthly blog circle! Life By Lens is a project I’m participating in with a wonderful group of photographers across the country. Our goal is to document the things that are important to us and, on the 20th of every month, we will each post a variety of personal pictures from our lives and link to each other’s blogs. Make sure you check out all of the photographers in our circle! We decided to go without a theme this month, so I’ve chosen to write my post about Ocean City, MD.
Everyone who knows me knows that I love Ocean City, MD. A lot. It’s my favorite place on earth, and yes, I’ve been other places. It may not have the same clear blue waters as the islands of the Caribbean, or have the history of Rome, or the natural wonders of Yellowstone (all places I’ve visited), but I love it. Many of my happiest memories from my childhood are in OC. I met my husband on the boardwalk and he proposed to me on the beach. I have countless inside jokes (that we still regularly bring up) with friends and family about things that happened there years ago.
I’m definitely a beach person, but more than that, I’m a family person. My parents have a condo in Ocean City that is directly next door (as in we can-and do-look in each other’s windows) to my aunt and uncle’s condo. My siblings and cousins all bring their families to the beach, and as much fun as it was when we were little, it may be even more fun seeing all of our kids together. There are a lot of us, and while we’re rarely all there together, there are usually a good amount of kids running around. We usually feel sorry for anyone who makes the mistake of sitting too close to us. 🙂
I love our days on the beach!
We occasionally give in to the daily begging for ice cream from the ice cream man (or, in this case, the ice cream lady with her ice cream dog).
In the evenings, we sometimes go back to the beach to fly a kite, play in the lifeguard stand, or just run around. Once in awhile we head down to the boardwalk and let the kids get on the rides.
Or we go to Dumser’s and get the world’s best ice cream. Seriously. Hot fudge sundae with peanut butter fudge ice cream. It’s amazing.
I love my family and I love our summers in Ocean City!

Oh my goodness, such fun photos and what a fun story. I am so jealous of your life at the beach!! I long to live there and hope some day, our dream of living on the beach is a reality too. How fun for all the kids to grow up playing on the beach together. You have a gorgeous family, and that large family photo is priceless!!!
These are just amazing….what a great place to visit (and how fun that there is so much family) around! Looks like you had a great vacation there, something the kids will always remember. Love the last few of the family all together, perfection!
Looks like a ton of fun! Ice cream dog cracks me up. Love the family pics too!
I love seeing summer beach photos. Great job at getting such good shots in full sun and with quickly moving kiddos. You captured everything fun about spending the summer at the beach.
I love this post since I love Ocean City, MD too! So far I think there has only been one weekend that I’ve had to miss going to the beach so far this summer. If I could handle commuting to work from OC I would. No other vacations can be scheduled during the summer because all extra time is reserved for OC!
You have created a wonderful portfolio of memories for your girls. How fun it will be for them as they are growing up and when they have their own children. Beautiful work!
That sounds SO ideal, take me there!! 🙂 What a great way to have an amazing summer with your family. It seems perfect! Love the photos.
I just loved how you captured these photos! The last two are my favorites! You have such an adorable group of kiddos! Lovely family!
You make me want to go there! I’ve never even heard of it! What a beautiful place! I so badly wish my whole family would vacation like this together! I love how the OC has such a special story in your life! Im sure it makes these photos even more memorable!
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE these! Beach photos make me swoon, and you totally rocked full sun!
I now need to visit the OC!
