{Eldersburg, Maryland Newborn Photograph} The Newborn Mini Session

When I was figuring out my pricing, I wanted to have an option for people for whom spending on a full session wasn’t an option, or who just wanted a few pictures of their baby. However, full newborn sessions take a great deal of time and planning. There’s a lot that goes into planning a newborn session, then the session itself takes 2-4 hours, and then editing 30+ images is obviously very time consuming! So I thought I’d figure out a way to make everyone happy, and decided to start offering newborn mini sessions. Newborn mini session last about 60 minutes and include 2 of the following: 1. family shots, 2. sibling shots, 3. parent and newborn shots, and 4. solo pictures of the baby on one blanket (unless the baby pees or poops on it! Then of course I’ll change it, as shown in the first session below). The biggest difference between a mini and a full newborn session is that I don’t spend a lot of time getting the baby to sleep. Some newborns doze right off and will let me roll through my posing, whereas others require more soothing and time to fall asleep. If the baby won’t sleep, I wrap him/her up and get awake shots, which parents always love anyway!

I wanted to show everyone what a newborn mini session looks like. Here are the images from 3 recent mini sessions, two where the baby slept, and one where the baby stayed awake.
