I keep starting this blog post and restarting it, because coming up with the words to express just how many prayers, hopes and dreams came before Emmalyn doesn’t seem possible. Her parents (my cousin and his awesome wife) went through so much in the years before she arrived, and I am so incredibly happy that this beautiful little girl has graced the world with her presence!

I was thrilled to be able to  shoot some pregnancy announcements for them in July! I offer complimentary pregnancy or gender announcement sessions for clients who book a newborn session. They’re so fun and I love being a part of these moments!

A few months later, we met at Soldier’s Delight in Owings Mills to do maternity photos. We were all a little disappointed when,

despite the forecast of sun, it was a gloomy, cloudy day. We still were able to capture some gorgeous shots!

 

My favorite part of all of these sessions were the pictures I was able to capture immediately after Emmalyn was born. I wish so much that I could offer birth photography at this point in my life. Unfortunately, I can’t guarantee availability as I would need to be able to. I didn’t quite make it for her birth (despite the 36 hour labor…) but being there in the hour or so after she was born, photographing their first moments as a family of 3, and grandparents and aunts meeting her was absolutely incredible!

Finally, we shot her newborn session! At just a week old, this was the 4th session that was all about her! I’m sure there will be many more to come!
