{Baltimore Maryland Newborn Photographer}Lifestyle Newborn Sessions

There are a couple different options I offer as far as newborn sessions go, and they are very different! Sometimes clients ask for an in home session, and I’m happy to oblige! However, my in home newborn sessions are very different than in the studio. My hope is that this post will help you decide if a lifestyle session is the right choice for your family.

Do you prefer a laid back approach? Do you have a beautiful nursery with great light that you’d love to show off? Maybe you have a toddler who you think will just do better in your own home. Lifestyle sessions are generally more relaxed and less formal. Whenever possible, I prefer to use natural light for lifestyle sessions and spend the bulk of my time in the baby’s nursery, so it’s really important that you have a good idea of when that room gets the best light.

I also really love spending a little time with the big brothers and sisters, and always make sure to include some shots of them!

That said, I’ve done lifestyle sessions for clients whose babies don’t even have nurseries (some were getting ready to move, some were still getting them set up) and I adapt! Lifestyle sessions are about capturing your life as it is right now, even if it’s a bit chaotic. I do recommend minimizing clutter and neatening up as much as possible. I realize that life after having a baby is crazy, and cleaning up is difficult, but it’s very important…even if you  have to shove all the junk into a corner or a spare room! Clutter can be distracting and difficult for me to shoot around. While lifestyle sessions are less portrait-y (is that a word?) than traditional posed newborn sessions, these images are still very beautiful, and I believe they’ll be treasured for years to come. My goal is to provide you with images that your children will look back on and see their nurseries, see how you rocked them in that glider (I’m still using my glider to my 2 year old and have been using it for almost 10 years now! I told my husband that chair is not leaving this house, like ever.), see how their big brother or sister peeked into their crib. I also love capturing details of the nursery. You won’t believe how quickly the time is going to go, and before you know it, you’ll be changing it to a big kid room!
