First Featured Family!

Building relationships with my clients and seeing their families grow is my second favorite thing about this job. The first is snuggling those sweet little babies during my newborn sessions!

I’d like to start featuring families I’ve had the pleasure of photographing over the years, and the first spotlight shines on The Wood Family. I’ve worked with them more than any other family, and I love going back and seeing how we’ve all grown since then.

I first met the Woods in May 2013, back when I was still fairly new at being a professional family photographer. They were one of my first maternity sessions ever, and, honestly, I was super nervous. I studied poses on Pinterest in preparation, and I’m pretty sure I even brought out my phone to show them what to do! I am much more comfortable directing clients now, but at that first maternity shoot, I almost felt like I was pretending to be a photographer. Luckily, they were very easy to work with, and we got some truly beautiful shots.

We met again in Summer 2013 when their older daughter Georgia was born. We did a full studio newborn session. I have to offer this disclaimer: my newborn posing has come a long, long way since then…but if you want to see where I was back in 2013, click here.

Then we did a first birthday shoot the following summer. We did both an outdoor family session and a studio cake smash. Georgia was one of my favorites to photograph, especially when she destroyed her cake! She’s always been pretty feisty, in the most hilarious and awesome way.

In 2016, When Jennie was expecting baby #2, we did another maternity session at Centennial Park in Ellicott City and a newborn session when Quinn joined their family. If you want to see lots more from these sessions, click here!

Since then, the Woods continue to book mini sessions each year to get updated family portraits and have taken pictures with Santa almost every holiday season since I started offering them in 2015 (bet you can spot 2020 when I got creative COVID-wise!). Our time together is always fun as we’ve grown comfortable with one another. I look forward to continuing to capture this sweet family for years to come. Before we know it, I’ll be doing Georgia and Quinn’s senior portraits (and probably tearing up along with their parents at how time has flown)!
